Studija slučaja o ulozi djece u proizvodnji keramike / A Case Study on the Role of Children in Ceramic Production

The aim of this paper is to examine the neglect of children’s roles within communities in past archaeological approaches, with particular reference to Bosnia and Herzegovina and using ceramic production as an example. First, the paper analyzes what a “child” actually means for a given society, drawing parallels based on data from different cultures and ethnic groups worldwide, as well as demographic data indicating that nearly half of the individuals within a given community could be categorised as children. It then turns to an examination of possible modes of ceramic production and the quantities of resources and time required for its manufacture. On this basis, it becomes possible to demonstrate how a large group of children could participate in ceramic production while their contribution remains entirely invisible if its existence is not actively considered. The paper concludes with a brief overview of the current state of research concerning children in archaeolog.
